Come along and join in the fun as we weave our storytelling magic into the minds and hearts of your little ones. All caregivers with babies to tots welcome.

Storytime continues through the school holidays, except for a short break over the summer.

Where: Māngere Bridge Library
When: Fridays at 10:30am
Approx: 30 minutes

2017 kicks off with our Storytime in the Park on 3 February 2017.  Hope to see you all there!
Storytime in the Park is coming on 5 February 2016.  Wear your hat, slap on some sunscreen, bring a blanket for some music and fun in Swanson Park.  Don’t forget to bring your teddy bear!

Comic Book Month is coming in September!!!  The library will be holding a Superhero Storytime on Friday 4 September at 10:30am…..come dressed ready for action!
Superhero Storytime
On Wednesday 22 April we will be starting a Rhymetime session at the library.  It will be at 2pm every Wednesday during school terms – a mixture of Wriggle & Rhyme and Storytime – should be fun!
The weather was perfect….the shade was just enough….the families all came and we enjoyed our first ever storytime out in the courtyard.  We will continue to use the courtyard, weather permitting, through the summer.
Singalong Storytime is back on Friday 23 January 2015!  Bring a mat, a cushion….something to sit on as we will be out in the courtyard.  That will mean hats, sunscreen….whatever else you think you may need.

Friday 12 December is our Christmas storyime at the Mangere Arts Centre, Bader Drive – same time 10:30am
On Friday 21 November Singalong Storytime will be at Ambury Farm – keep your fingers crossed for a sunny day so we can be outside under the trees!!   The weather was perfect and we were able to use the barn.  Look out for the pictures in the Manukau Courier on Thursday!

Today at Sing-a-long Storytime we read an old favourite: The little mouse, the red ripe strawberry and the big hungry bear. This young lady enjoyed the story so much she stayed behind to read it again!
Today at Sing-a-long storytime we read Tap the Magic Tree by Christie Matheson. It is a fun story about trees during the changing seasons. There is lots of opportunity for children to participate as they follow the instructions in the story to make magical things happen. You can request it here:

Friday 14 February is Storytime in the Park – bring your teddy and join us for our Teddy Bear’s Picnic from 10.30. The photos are now in Flickr.  I’m sad I missed all the fun!

There will not be a Singalong Storytime at the library on Friday 6 December – we will all be at The Mangere Arts Centre for a Christmas Singalong Storytime with Mangere East and Mangere Town Centre Libraries s- will be some food afterwards too!

On Friday 1 November we will be celebrating Diwali with a special Singalong Storytime – get dressed up in lots of colour!

We are celebrating Hairy Maclary’s birthday on Friday 12 July.  Wear your slippers and join us for lots of frivolity!

Singalong Storytime

I wanted to share some of the new picture books that have arrived in the library this week.

No-bot; the robot with no bottom! written by Sue Hendra.

Friday 14 September was our Superhero Singalong Storytime.  We all had great fun – including the children who visited from Small Kauris across the road!

Saturday 11 August is to be a special Margaret Mahy storytime – this is happening all around New Zealand!  Our session is at 11.30 in the library – with a special guest story teller!

We had lots of fun with bubbles, songs and Margaret Mahy stories read by Danile and Carol.

Friday 27 July 2012: This morning Suzie and I read “The lion in the meadow” by Margaret Mahy as a tribute.


Last Friday Suzie and I wore our pyjamas for storytime.  The story we read is called “The cat’s pyjamas” written by Catherine Foreman, and is one of the finalists for the NZ Post Children’s Book Awards.  I wonder if it will win anything?

Singalong Storytime has finished for 2011 – we had a lovely Christmas session on the 16 December.  We’ll be back on Friday 27 January 2012 at 10:30!

                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Last week was Samoan Language Week so we told the story of The very hungry caterpillar, written by Eric Carle.  We counted in Samoan – tasi, lua, tolu, fa, lima.  The  story is now on display in the children’s section with Samoan language translations for the days of the week and counting.

We will be starting off 2011 with a Summer Storytime in Swanson Park on 21 January at 10:30.
